WhisperDictate turns your voice into text without the customary detour through someone else's server. It is a macOS menubar app running the Faster-Whisper model locally, on your hardware, with your electricity. Press a hotkey from any application to start recording, press it again to stop, and the transcription lands wherever your cursor was.
Supports model sizes from tiny to large-v3. Runs with GPU acceleration on Apple Silicon. Requires nothing beyond macOS and a microphone. Everything stays on-device, which in 2026 apparently qualifies as a feature rather than a baseline expectation.
The screenshot here doesn't show much because the system runs only on the menubar. Lean and clean.
